CRG Hosts Book Party at Museum of Natural History for The GMO Deception

Last night the Council for Responsible Genetics hosted a book party on the terrace of the American Museum of Natural History to celebrate the release of our new book, The GMO Deception: What You Need to Know about the Food, Corporations, and Government Agencies Putting Our Families and Our Environment at Risk  (Skyhorse Publishing, June 2014). Edited by CRG Board Chair Sheldon Krimsky and CRG President Jeremy Gruber, with a foreword by Ralph Nader, The GMO Deception gives voice to some of the world’s most distinguished scientists, science writers, and public health advocates, including Michael Hansen, Vandana Shiva, Frances Moore Lappé, Bill Freese, John Fagan, Michael Antoniou, Claire Robinson, Philip Bereano and Doug Gurian-Sherman, among others. Together, their essays address the GMO debate and answer important questions like:

• Are GM foods safe and healthy for us?

• Who really controls the power structure of food production?

• Why is it so difficult to get GM foods labeled in the US?

• What kinds of regulations and policies do we need?

• Should animals be genetically modified for food?

Speakers at the event included CRG President Jeremy Gruber, CRG Board Chair Professor Sheldon Krimsky, Former CRG Board member and book contributor Professor Stuart Newman, Tony Lyons the publisher of Skyhorse Press and Jim Leahy from GMO Free Connecticut and a founder of Citizen’s for GMO Labeling.
